Tina joined the glee club in her freshman year, hoping that somehow she could break out of her shell. In sixth grade, she faked a stutter to help her get out of giving an oral report and did it ever since until joining New Directions, seeing her confidence explode over the years. She and Artie are part of the original six members along with Kurt, Mercedes, Finn and Rachel, and they have been with the group the longest.
What defines Tina is her drive to be noticed and her loyalty to her friends, even if it means swaying in the background. She's heard all the jokes, but it doesn't stop her from going for her dreams of becoming a performer. She currently maintains a long-distance friendship with her ex-boyfriend Mike, who is attending college in Chicago

Actor Bio - Jenna Ushkowitz

Born in South Korea, Jenna was adopted by her American parents and raised in Long Island, entering showbusiness at the tender age of three doing modelling and commercial jobs, also appearing later on as one of the child cast on the long-running PBS children's series Sesame Street
Her big break came in 1996 when she was cast in the Broadway revival of The King and I. She pursued her passions at a Catholic performing arts school landing roles in school productions as well as performing in the show choir (the only member of the cast who was a Gleek in real life). After graduating from college in 2007, she went back to Broadway as part of the cast of Spring Awakening with Glee co-star and childhood friend Lea Michele. She is a vegetarian with a love of the environment and also aspires to be a veterinarian
